People often come into the gym and try to get a better membership price than the members already there. We tell them we treat everyone fairly, everyone pays the same price. More importantly we tell them the real value in a gym membership is if you use it. We also tell people they will use it if it is convenient, they are comfortable and most importantly they do what they should be doing right now to get them the results they want. We can meet all those needs. We are a neighborhood gym. We all, staff and members, are considerate of each other and the ownership and staff are committed to educating ourselves and our members on all aspects of fitness. Plus we have a lively, fun and helpful environment.
Think of value this way also. You go to the gym and do whatever pops into your mind or whatever feels good at the moment. Yes you will feel good and get some results - for about 4 - 6 weeks! Then you get bored when you don't get the same good feelings and results you did the first month. We educate our members on the fact that the body adapts to the stress of strength training best for about 4 - 6 weeks before the laws of diminishing returns sets in and the air comes out of your sails. We suggest periodization of training where you change your exercises as well as other variables every 4 weeks and that will make the results keep coming. Or another example you come in and grab 15lb dumbbells to do curls because you think that sounds about right. You do 10 or so reps, do a few other exercises and at some point get back to the curls. We love to educate our members about the correct sets, reps, weight and recovery time to use when strength training. You know exactly what to do when you come in. Did you know there are four types of strength training? Power, strength, hypertrophy(adding muscle) and endurance(toning). You can increase your results dramatically by following the proven formulas and psychologically knowing you are doing the right things at the right time gives you the boost you need to keep coming even when you don't feel like it. There are also formulas for cardio and core. Ask us about them.
