Reviews
These reviews are the ones we care about the most.
They are real letters from real people.
Instead, I want to talk about my experience.
At the start of 2009 I was in decent shape but I had no real aspirations of getting into great shape...nevermind the best shape of my life (afterall, I was in the Army so I can't nessasarily beat that). I had just started at RMF and was there, like most, to go through the motions. I went to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, did what I considered a routine lifting regiment, and called it a day. However, as time went on I grew to know the staff. In a playful manner, they would push me to do just one more, to jump into a class...and at times to prevent me from just taking up space.
Soon after, I found myself wanting to get there as much as I could. It wasn't nessasarily the exercise regiment, but more the people. Instead of putting my workout around my schedule, I found myself putting my schedule around my workout. In time I started shedding the fat I had previously struggled to lose and gaining the muscle I had such a hard time working. Before I knew it, I was on track to be in great shape. In addtion, the people I knew as staff, I was now able to call friends.
Then, in May of 2009 the idea of doing a triathlon was brought to my attention by the owner, Tom Regan. A few people from the gym I knew had signed up, but I had no business doing a triathlon! I hated to run, didn't own a bike, and more importantly didn't know how to swim...so naturally I signed up!
Over the course of the next two months, I commited myself to competing in the triathlon. I ran every morning, lifted after work, and peppered in a bike ride or spin class when I could. Being that I couldn't swim, without hesitation, Tom, Andrea, and other members of RMF took time out of their workouts to teach me. Before long, I was able to hold my own!
All of this was a long tedious process for everyone involoved. But it was a process in which Tom and Andrea got us all together, treated it like a team, and pushed us to go as far as we could go. Together, Tom would bring us out to Castle Island on a few random weekday mornings before work to train. We'd swim in the lagoon, move to the bike, then start running. All not only to train but to get used to the transition involved.
Finally in July we all competed and completed in the Falmouth Sprint Triathlon! It was an achievement just a few months before I would've never thought I could acomplish. And for that, I am forever grateful to all the people at RMF...staff and members.
Since then, I'll admit that I've slowed from my pre-tri workouts but thanks to Tom, Andrea, John, and the rest of the people at RMF, I've never stopped. I still run in the morning, continue to lift in the afternoon, and my schedule still revolves around the gym. And today, I can proudly say that my time at Regan's Motivated Fitness has put me in the best shape of my life.
Chelsea:"It is a joy to be a member of Regan's Motivated Fitness gym. I experienced tremendous results by participating in Tom's impressive boot-camp program. His wealth of knowledge is matched by his deep humility, humor and true care for participants. He is a charismatic leader, keeps workouts challenging, organized, and balanced. A year ago, you couldn't have paid me to wake up at 5am, head outdoors to run miles, do push-ups and carry a medicine ball around the track-- now, it is the best part of my day. I have more energy, more spirit and wake up before dawn to greet the day with a smile, knowing that I will push my limits and have fun."
Matt T.:"Tom's boot camp is a great time, where healthy eating and challenging yourself physically are promoted. No two classes are the same, but they are all fun and challenging. In the end you are in great shape, have met a lot of great people, feel great, and see noticeable results. I started in May and weighed 202 lbs and my cholesteral was 286. My first mile time was 8:39. I continued until the bootcamp ended for it's winter break at the end of October. I am now down 24 lbs to 178, and my cholesteral was down to 210, (thinking it is under 200 now), and my fastest mile time was 6:26, while push up & sit up tests were up from 25 and 20 each to 55 and 36 respectively. Now I am looking forward to the next session and beating my personal mile time."
Mike:"While not typically a morning person, I really look forward to waking up early and starting my day with Tom's boot camp. Through both his motivating personality and variety of exercises, Tom makes working out really hard a lot of fun . As a cardiologist, my schedule has not permitted me to join a basketball league in quite awhile. Its nice to feel like I am part of a team again. More importantly, I don't know if I have ever seen such rapid results. I have not been in this good of shape since playing sports in college. My mind and body feel great and I can't wait for the next session to begin. I wish I could get Tom to motivate my patients the way he motivates me. We would be living in a lot healthier community if everyone participated in boot camp."
Duff:"I've been driving a desk for 20 years - now I'm lifting three times a week, and thinking about one-armed rows in my spare time! Thanks so much to Sean and Tom for running the best gym in Southie!
Cristina Wurster:"Thank you so much Andrea and Tom! I had such a great time, as did Geoff. He couldn't stop talking about how great you both are and how he can see how this is the perfect place for me. He now can see why I get so happy about the classes. I really do enjoy the classes so much and its really because you motivate me to work hard. It's funny because every time I get to the gym it almost makes me feel at home. Thank you for everything. I have seen a change in myself, where I have grown to love the gym. The environment is so positive and motivating...unlike anywhere I have been before. It really makes me feel better and happier when I am there. Thanks again!" - Cristina
Annemarie & Sean Long:"We joined Regan's Motivated Fitness when it opened in March (2008). We are very happy at this gym. The staff is great. They are obviously passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. They teach a wide variety of classes and offer other motivational group activities to help you reach your fitness goals. The staff will challenge each person at their individual level and pace. The gym is always immaculate. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The difference between this gym and other gyms we have belonged to in the past is that this staff is always on hand to provide help and support and answer any questions we may have. You always feel great leaving the gym and knowing that you have gotten the best possible workout you can get."
????:"As a newly married couple we wanted to incorporate a regular exercise program into our schedule. Additionally, Tom's reputation for fun and results-producing workout regimens made joining MOTIVATED FITNESS a natural solution. The positive energy and the way we feel when we leave each night keeps us coming back.
Carol Harlow:The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. They're there to make sure each member is getting exactly what they need in terms of attention and information. They make classes fun and with such small classes we feel like we are getting all the benefits of personal training."
Scott Cipola:"Motivated is definitely the word for this gym. Whether it is through classes, working out on your own or personal training sessions, Tom and Andrea really get their space energized. This true neighborhood gym welcomes people from all walks of life in all shapes and sizes to come together to get healthy. Regan's Motivated Fitness is a positive, fun, comfortable environment for the enthusiasm of body and mind."
Larry Baron, Owner, Spa Christine:"I found the newest "jewel" in South Boston...Regan's Motivated Fitness...It's like working out in my own personal gym. Tom and Andrea run an incredibly clean, polite and friendly place...it makes you want to go and work out all the time, guess that's where they get the name."
